First of all I could only find two elements so far. One element that I found in my book is a metaphor that is found on page 134 of the book and it is describing Richard's mothers fear of her abusive husband by saying..." her heart hammered in her chest." This is a metaphor because your heart doesn't literally hammer in your chest. It also shows the fear that can come with living in an abusive situation.
A second element I found is actually the title of the book which is The Guardian. This I beleive is a symbol. After Julie's husband dies he leaves a note behind that tells her he is giving her a great dane puppy to help her get through the rough time and he'll keep her safe when he grows older. In the end this proves true because Singer, Julie's dog ends up saving her life, from Richard the guy that has been stalking her. What makes it a symbol is that Singer ends up truly being a "watch-dog" if you will and again ultimately saving her life.
At the momemt I still don't know what the project of my book is yet.
